On July 12, 2007, N.C. Governor Michael F. Easley selected Douglas N. Marlette to receive posthumously the honor of membership to the North Carolina Order of the Long Leaf Pine. Representatives from the Governor’s office, Patrick S. Wooten and C. Edward (Ted) Teague lll presented this distinguished award to Doug Marlette’s wife Melinda
and their son Jackson, at
Mr. Marlette’s Funeral service on Saturday July 14, 2007.

The Order of the Long Long Leaf Pine is the highest civilian honor bestowed
by the Governor of North Carolina.
